St Augustine Ghost Tour, Florida

As part of a Contiki tour through the US we stopped by a town called St Augustine in Florida. Now if you've ever done a Contiki you would know that there are lots of extra activities, some are great and some are really just lame attempts to fill time while stopped in between cool places.
On this occasion it was the lame offering of a guided ghost tour throught the old town, apparently one of the first towns in the US with lots of history. So the tour was really bad, the guide tryed just a bit too hard and the end result was not one hair on its end.
We proceeded to head back to the hotel for some beer and poker. After a number of beers (I stopped counting after 10) someone suggesting we re visit the tour ourselves. What ensued was one of the scariest things I have ever done. Wandering through the town with the stories of the previous tour in our head was very creepy. The stories of murdered little girls and the thousands od dead souls at the old fort were fresh in mind. Who would have thought 7 or 8 big men could be this scared in each other's company.
So save a few bucks on the tour, grab a slab of beer and wander round this very creepy town in the wee hours, trust me the fear is very authentic.
