No Place is Boring

Have you ever spoken to someone who has just gotten back from an overseas trip (or domestic trip for that matter) who has all these greats stories of adventures and experiences that they had while on holiday. You find yourself saying to yourself how great it sounds and you wish that those sorts of things could happen to you, but they probably won’t.
The most enjoyable and exciting things that happen whilst on holidays aren’t the things that Lonely Planet or Getaway tell you to go and do.
Of course these things are great and can give you insight into the culture and history of your chosen destination, but they are rarely experiences that let you feel from a local’s perspective what it is really like to live there. You think that these things only happen to other people who were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
Having experienced being on both sides of the above conversation, I’ll let you in on a little secret, you too can have the time of your lives over and over again, and you don’t have to fork out $30 for a Lonely Planet guide. And here it is….have fun, get out there, try new things, try everything, meet as many people as possible, be open to new experiences, and remember on holidays you can be whoever you want.
I grew up in Canberra, Australia, and for those of you who don’t know, Canberra has a reputation for being one of the most boring cities in Oz. Most people I meet have a negative opinion about Canberra despite only having visited once on a year 5 excursion or worse never having visited at all. So tell me who is more boring, the people who pass judgment without little or no experience of something, or the people who get out there, have a go, and have a great time trying new things regardless of where they are.
If you’re not one of the boring ones, then welcome to the site, this is where you belong.
