The SCG....Considered by many to be the most beautiful cricket ground in the world and I tend to agree. The grand old Members' and Ladies' Stands, combined with the beautiful backdrop of the Sydney skyline under a clear Summer night's sky.
Cricket...Considered by many to be one of the dullest games in the world. The many hours involved sitting around under a hot sun watching a game that most don't understand.
BUT, take one part SCG, combine with 6 parts cricket and add in 10-15 parts beer, and you have the recipe for one hell of a fun time. For those who have only ever seen cricket on TV you wouldn't understand, but if you go to the actual ground it just seems to work. The atmosphere, the lovely setting, the sound of leather on willow makes for a fantastic day and one the best sporting cultural experiences that Australia has to offer. You'll only be able to catch an international match between December and February, but they are played in all of the capital cities at least once, but the SCG and the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) would be my pick of the venues.
